The Parents Preparing for Postpartum Workshop

Counseling Psychology, MFTI (pending registration) is a one time workshop accompanied by a free individual couple session with Natashia Fuksman. The workshop is meant to be taken during your baby’s third trimester and the couple’s session is an offering for some time during your first six months postpartum.

During the workshop we will address issues related to preparing for this rite of passage including:  stages of development of parenthood, with emphasis on identity development as it relates to body image; relationship changes; and real world needs and commitments including configuring sleeping arrangements, work, attachment and sexuality in the context of this very new and tender time period.

In addition, there  will be a review of different kinds of support providers and a resource list shared (postpartum doulas, nannies, IBCLC’s, breastfeeding and new mother support groups).

 

This offering is designed as an integral step in acknowledging and nurturing your birth as parents and this monumental time period in your life together as a couple.

 

Workshop Fee: $100, and includes an a free follow up individual couple session postpartum with Natashia.

Sunday, December 8th (ideal for parents who have estimated due dates in January and February)

Sunday, January 12th (ideal for Febraury and March EDDs)

February 9th (for March and April EDDs)

Time: 4:30pm-8pm (with a potluck dinner during our break)

Natashia’s Bio

Natashia’s professional career has involved working with families for 20+ years in various capacities. She began her career as a public school teacher and then moved into comprehensive sexuality education within the nonprofit sector. Since in 1998, Natashia has served in the perinatal community in varying capacities including being a:  Birth Doula, Postpartum Doula, Childbirth Educator, Birth Counselor, Lactation Consultant, Doula Mentor, DONA-Approved Birth Doula Trainer, co-founder and former director of The NYC Doula Collective. Natashia currently holds a Master’s degree in Counseling Psychology and is a Marriage and Family Therapist Intern (pending registration). Her areas of focus are: relationships, the rite of passage of parenthood, identity development for women as they become mothers and conscious mind-body relationships. Natashia is originally from New York City and moved to Berkeley with her husband and children (2 boys, ages 8 and 4) in 2010. Natashia considers it an honor to serve our world through the lens of working with women and their families.
